Helpful Home Owner Tips

Here are some helpful tips for taking care of your home.

  1. Dehumidifiers should always be running in Maryland basements. Even though basements are draining and there’s no visible water, relative humidity levels can still raise high enough to promote mold growth.

  2. Personal protection equipment should always be used when remediation mold, as you are using an anti-microbial agent which kills living organisms. (We are living organisms) Be careful. We use personal protection equipment always and take great care to not hurt ourselves during the remediation process.

  3. If mold is found in an area Do Not move any content. Moving content can contaminate the pathway to as well as the new area. Items must be decontaminated as they are moved.

  4. If you have Central Air Conditioning the ventilation system is the number one source of mold growth. Excessive moisture –via- condensation in the air handling unit. Ventilation systems should be cleaned every 4 to 5 years, and may need to be treated for mold. You should have a certified mold company like Gottpower Services Inc. perform this work.

  5. When hiring a contractor for remodeling projects you should always use an M.H.I.C. licensed company, and always have an ending date in the contract for the work being performed.
